Prevail #137 – Psalm 34:4 – “I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears.” Larson shares a very encouraging realization, “I’d never thought it possible to be delivered from all of my fears. I didn’t even think it was possible to be delivered from most of my fears. But as I’ve continually looked away from the roar of my enemy and set my gaze on the Lord, He has – over time – set me free…. How do you cultivate a life that easily accesses the truth about God? You taste and see that He is good. Every day in multiple ways, note the goodness of God all around you. Acknowledge His influence…. Your fears are real. Your battles will be significant. But there’s a supernatural power on your side – God himself.”
Power – John 16:23-24 NIV – “I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.” Joyce adds, “[Jesus] gave us the right to use His name when we go to God in prayer. When we pray in His name, it is the same as if He were praying. This privilege seems almost too wonderful to believe! But we can believe it because we have Scripture to back it up.”
Simpson – “To him that overcometh, will I give” (Rev. ii.17). Simpson offers this insight, “A precious secret of Christian life is to have Jesus dwelling within the heart and conquering things that we never could overcome. Men cannot understand it, nor will the world believe it; but it is true, that God will come to dwell within us, and be the power, and the purity, and the victory, and the joy of our life….With this knowledge I go forth to meet my testings, and the secret stands me good…. Christ has met the adversary and defeated him for me. Thanks be unto God who giveth us the victory through Jesus Christ.”
Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
JC – “As you sit quietly in My Presence, remember that I am a God of abundance. I will never run out of resources; My capacity to bless you is unlimited…. Through spending time in My Presence, you gain glimpses of My overflowing vastness. These glimpses are tiny foretastes of what you will experience eternally in heaven. Even now you have access to as much of Me as you have faith to receive.”
Streams – Acts 7:30, 33-34 – “After forty years had passed, an angel appeared to Moses… in the desert…. Then the Lord said to him, ‘…Now come, I will send you back to Egypt.’” From Days of Heaven Upon Earth, Cowman shares, “Often the Lord calls us aside from our work for a season and asks us to be still and learn before we go out again to minister. And the hours spent waiting are not lost time.”
JL – “Comforting God, I love to hear You whispering in my mind: ‘Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.’ These words are like a warm blanket wrapped around me…. In Your dependable Name, Jesus, Amen.”
