Prevail #134 – Psalm 23:5 – “You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.” Larson helps us appreciate and learn from the experiences that God allows in our lives as she reminds us that, “David’s younger wilderness season prepared him for promotion. He learned to embrace courage and to rely on the Lord’s provision…. We must learn these things as well…. From preparation to promotion, from the valley of the shadow to the mountain where His sun shines, in the face of enemy attack and around the victory table of celebration, we will always have all that we need.”
JA – “I AM ABLE to keep you from stumbling. I know how weak you are, how easily you would lose your footing if I were not holding onto you…. You are absolutely secure because it is My righteousness that saves you, not yours.”
Simpson writes, “The one resource of faith has always been the living God, and Him alone…. A church relying on human wisdom, wealth or resources, ceases to be the body of Christ and becomes an earthly society. When we dare to depend entirely upon God and without doubt, the humblest and feeblest agencies will become ‘mighty through God, to the pulling down of strongholds.’ May the Holy Spirit give to us at all times, His own conception of these two great words, ‘But God.’” See Luke 12:20.
Power – Joyce offers this important reminder, “One of the great privileges we have, but frequently fail to make use of, is speaking of things that are not yet evident as if they already exist. For example, God’s Word encourages us to say we are strong even if we are weak (see Joel 3:10)…. We are called to walk by faith and not by sight (see 2 Corinthians 5:7). In other words, we believe what God says in His Word even more than we believe what we see.”
JC – “I am a mighty God. Nothing is too difficult for Me. I have chosen to use weak ones like you to accomplish My purposes. Your weakness is designed to open you up to My Power…. What I require of you is to stay connected to Me, living in trusting dependence on My limitless resources…. Talk with Me, and listen while I talk you through each challenging situation…. When I allow difficulties to come into your life, I equip you fully to handle them. Relax in My Presence, trusting in My Strength.”
Streams – Cowman shares from Messages for the Morning Watch, “Postponed obedience can never bring us the full blessing God intended or what it would have brought had we obeyed at the earliest possible moment” and from Christina Rosetti, “Obedience is the fruit of faith; patience is the early blossom on the tree of faith.”
JL – “My Savior God, When many things seem to be going wrong and my life feels increasingly out of control, help me to trust You and thank You. These are supernatural responses that can lift me above my circumstances. If I do what comes naturally in the face of difficulties, I tend to fall prey to negativism…. But it is always possible to apply the brakes by crying out to You in Your Name – affirming my trust in You and giving thanks for everything…. Your Peace that surpasses understanding will guard my heart and my mind. In your unsurpassed Name, Jesus, Amen.”
