Mar 29, 2026 – Timing
JC – This is a helpful admonition: “Stop trying to work things out before their times have come…. When something comes to your attention, ask Me whether or not it is part of today’s agenda. If it isn’t, release it into My care and go on about today’s duties…. a time for everything, and everything in its time.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
Power – James 1:7 NIV – “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” Joyce offers another helpful admonition (I was going to use a different word, but it fits here too): “The apostle James says we are discontent because we try to get what we want by our own means rather than asking God for it and trusting Him completely…. spend a lot of time being a blessing to others, and stay hopeful concerning what you want and need. Remember, God is faithful and His timing is perfect!”
Prevail #88 – 1 Chronicles 4:10 – “(Jabez prayed), ‘Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!’ And God granted him his request.” Larson expresses my sentiments, “I love Bruce Wilkinson’s book The Prayer of Jabez. Though some find this a selfish prayer, nothing could be further from the truth. If you’ve not read Bruce’s book, pick it up and soak it in. Whatever we’ve experienced of God, we hold a Dixie cup and the ocean remains.” Talk about soaking in something important! We don’t get because we don’t ask. Jabez asked. We can do the same.
Larson continues, “The more deeply we get to know the heart of God, the more profoundly our prayers start to echo His heart for us….The more we pray God’s heart, the more His answers change us and change the world through us…. Pray prayers that overwhelm you – impossible prayers that only He can answer…. It’s one thing to occasionally prayer a scary prayer. It’s a whole ‘nother thing to pray this way continually…. Jesus, Bless me indeed!”
Utmost – Luke 12:40 – “Be ye therefore ready also.” Chambers offers these thoughts about timing, “The great need for the Christian worker is to be ready to face Jesus Christ at any and every turn….. Jesus rarely comes where we expect Him; He appears where we least expect Him, and always in the most illogical connections. The only way a worker can keep true to God is by being ready for the Lord’s surprise visits…. This will give our life the attitude of child-wonder which He wants it to have.”
