May 18, 2026 – Pathway
Power – Joyce leans into 1 Timothy 6:6 to make this point, “If I am discontent, I get upset easily, but if I choose to be content no matter what is going on, then my emotions remain balanced. Our thoughts have a lot to do with our moods…. We can think ourselves happy, and we can think ourselves sad! How we talk to ourselves also affects our emotions…. Trusting God at all times is the pathway to contentment…. He will provide what is right for us in His perfect timing.”
Prevail #139 – Psalm 40:3 – “He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord.” Larson offers insight into the motive behind much of the music we listen to and sing, “Truly new songs rarely come out of times of ease. They rise up out of the ashes, or settle in during times of Sabbath, or thunder through us in a time of battle. God invites us to sing a new song when circumstances cloud our view of Him.” She received this whisper from the Lord about healing she had been waiting for, “Active waiting produces perseverance, but perseverance won’t do the miraculous in you unless it’s coupled with joyful expectancy…. If you identify more with the length of your trial than you do with the height of God’s love, it’s time for a new song.”
Streams – 2 Corinthians 1:8-9 – “We were under great pressure,…so that we despaired even of life…. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.” Cowman calls on A. B. Simpson to offer more on these verses, “The pressure of difficult times makes us value life. Every time our life is spared and given back to us after a trial, it is like a new beginning. We better understand its value and thereby apply ourselves more effectively for God and for humankind. And the pressure we endure helps us to understand the trials of others, equipping us to help them and to sympathize with them…. Trials and difficult times are needed to press us forward.”
JC – “Come to Me with your plans held in abeyance. Worship Me…. Trust Me enough to let Me guide you through this day, accomplishing My purposes in My timing…. Do not blindly follow your habitual route, or you will miss what I have prepared for you.” Isaiah 55:8-9
JL – “My Creator, This is the day that You have made! Help me to rejoice and be glad in it…. I don’t want to worry about tomorrow or get stuck in the past. Instead, I seek to enjoy abundant Life in Your Presence today! In Your joyful Name, Jesus, Amen.”
