June 5, 2026 – Thoughts
Days – “My heart is fixed, O God” (Ps. lvii. 7). Simpson understands, “We do not always feel joyful, but we are always to count it joy…. This rejoicing by faith will soon become a habit, and will ever bring speedily the spirit of gladness and the spontaneous overflow of praise.”
Power – 2 Corinthians 10:5 KJV – “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ…” Joyce adds to Simpson’s thoughts, “This Scripture means when you become aware of a wrong thought in your mind, you can choose immediately not to think it. How often will you need to make the right choice? The answer is every day, all of your life…. it is a privilege rather than a duty. Thank God that He has given us the ability to think for ourselves and not merely be stuck with whatever comes into our minds….”
JC – “…Much frustration and failure result from your seeking perfection in this life. There is nothing perfect in this world except Me. That is why closeness to Me satisfies deep yearnings and fills you with Joy….”
Prevail #156 – Ecclesiastes 4:12 – “A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” Larson points out that, “It’s been said that the wolves attack the sheep tha have wandered from the fold. We wander sometimes because of sin, other times because of pain. Either way, the devil hopes to find us alone. Don’t let that happen.”
Streams – Isaiah 7:11 – “As the Lord your God for a sign, whether in the deepest depths or the highest heights.” From selected sources, Cowman reminds us that, “We must continue to pray and ‘wait for the Lord’ (Isa. 8:17), until we hear the sound of His mighty rain. There is no reason why we should not ask for great things…. It is not within our power to create the wind or to change its direction, but we can raise our sails to catch it when it comes…. We do not control God’s Spirit, but we can place ourselves before the Lord out of obedience to what He has called us to do, and we will come under the influence and power of His mighty breath.”
From Dr. Goulburn, Dean of Norwich offer these empowering thoughts: “The greatest Old or New Testament saints who ever lived were on a level that is quite within our reach. The same spiritual force that was available to them, and the energy that enabled them to become our spiritual heroes, are also available to us…. If we exhibit the same faith, hope, and love… A simple prayer….just as Elijah’s mouth called down literal rain and fire. All that is required is to speak the words with the same complete assurance of faith with which he spoke.”
Utmost – Hebrews 13:5-6 – “He hath said…so that we may boldly say…” Chambers continues encouraging our faith, “My say-so is to be built on God’s say-so. God says – ‘I will never leave thee,’ then I can with good courage say ‘ ‘The Lord is my helper, I will not fear’ – I will not be haunted by apprehension. This does not mean that I will not be tempted to fear, but I will remember God’s say-so. I will be full of courage, like a child ‘bucking himself up’ to reach the standard his father wants…. The only way to get the dread taken out of us is to listen to God’s say-so…. Are you learning to say things after listening to God, or are you saying things and trying to make God’s word fit in?”
JL – “Precious Jesus, Sometimes I sense the Light of Your Glory shining on me…. How I treasure these moments with You! Please use them to make me more like You. I’m learning that the more I fix my eyes on You – in quiet times and busy times – the better I can reflect Your Glory to other people…. I admit that staying conscious of You when I’m busy is very challenging for me. Thankfully, You have created me with a mind that can function on more than one ‘track’ at a time…. When I’m aware that You are present with me, I’m less likely to do or say something that’s displeasing to You…. I know You can use everything in my life for good – transforming me into Your likeness with ever-increasing Glory! In Your glorious Name, Amen.” See Hebrews 12:2, 2 Corinthians 3:18, and Romans 8:28 NLT.
