Prevail #140 – Psalm 46:10 – “Be still, and know that I am God!” Larson asks the question we all ask at times, “How do you know when it’s time to double down, hang on, and fight for victory, or when it’s time to let go, rest your heart and let the Lord fight the battle for you? Pay attention to the state of your soul. If restlessness drives you to strive, then you know it’s time to be still and know that He is God. This translates to a simple yet different formula: Let go, sink down, relax, and in some cases, be quiet. When our souls are stressed, our words tend to follow suit…. Sometimes the most faith-filled thing you can do is to quiet your heart, close your mouth, and let go of the thing that stresses you so.

Streams – Cowman draws from selected sources as she writes, “When we believe God for a blessing, we must have an attitude of faith and begin to act and pray as if the blessing were already ours. We should respond as if he has granted our request. This attitude of trust means leaning upon Him for what we have claimed and simply taking it for granted that He has given us our request and will continue to give it.” From Messages for the Morning Watch, she points out that, “When you ask in faith and in Christ’s name – that is, in oneness with Him and His will – ‘it will be given you.’ (John 15:7)” The “in oneness with…His will” part is important to remember when we wait and the answer doesn’t come…our requests have to be in line with His will and His ways.

JC – “I want you to know how safe and secure you are in My Presence…. Although My Presence is a guaranteed promise, that does not necessarily change your feelings. When you forget I am with you, you may experience loneliness or fear. It is through awareness of My Presence that Peace displaces negative feelings. Practice the discipline of walking consciously with Me through each day.”

JL – “Precious Jesus,  Every time something thwarts my plans or desires, I face an important choice: to flounder in frustration or to communicate with You. When I choose to talk with You about the situation, I’m blessed in several ways. First, communicating with You – in all circumstances – strengthens my relationship with You. Also, my disappointments, instead of dragging me down, can be transformed into opportunities for good…. making it possible for me to be joyful in the midst of adversity. Please help me to practice this discipline in all the little disappointments of daily life…. Someday I hope to reach the place where I can accept major losses in this positive way…. In Your marvelous Name, Amen.”
