Dec 11, 2025 – Set Your Mind
Don and I are both working with a bit of a time crunch today trying to get some things handled before the next group of things speaks up for attention. As I was heating up my coffee (that I had ignored while handling the things), I had a thought; or, rather, a thought was whispered to me and so I went to Don’s office (at the other end of the house) and we prayed.
Prevail 345 – 1 John 1:7 – “But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.”
Streams – Psalm 134:1, 3 – “Praise the Lord, all you servants of the Lord who minister by night in the house of the Lord…. May the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth, bless you from Zion.” Cowman quotes George Matheson as she writes, “You may see this as a strange time to worship – ‘minister[ing] by night in the House of the Lord.’ Indeed, worshipping at night, during the depth of our sorrows, is a difficult thing. Yet therein lies the blessing, for it is the test of perfect faith. If I desire to know the true depth of my friend’s love, I must see how he responds during the winter seasons of my life. And it is the same with divine love.” I definitely called on Him in the darkness this morning, but did I worship? Forgive me, Lord, for always wanting and asking. You indeed are worthy of praise!! You are our Wonderful Counselor! Thank You for that and for sooooo many other things!!
JC – “I am working on your behalf. Bring Me all your concerns, including your dreams. Talk with Me about everything, letting the light of My presence shine on your hopes and plans…. Do not try to hurry this process. If you want to work with Me, you have to accept my time frame…. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses.”
JA – “I am your Rock in whom you can take refuge – any time, any place. Come to Me, beloved; Rest in the Peace of My Presence. Take a break from trying to figure everything out. Admit that many, many things are beyond your understanding – and your control. My ways and thoughts are higher than yours, as the heavens are higher than the earth.”
Power – Joyce writes, “Colossians 3:2 tells us to set our minds and keep them set. To set your mind means to make a firm decision about how to handle the situation and you keep your mind set in that direction…. If you’re in a less than desirable situation, but you know it is where God wants you to be, don’t drift off into thinking that can weaken you. Instead, think, I am strong in Christ, and I can do whatever He leads me to do.”
