June 3, 2026 – Interruptible

A sailing weekend in Pensacola wasn’t in our plans, but the changes fell into place at the last minute so we headed south for what turned out to be a fun weekend with our friend.

Prevail #154 – Larson entitled her message, “Make Your Plans, Stay Flexible” based on Proverbs 16:9 – “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” As Christians, we can stay flexible (or we should) because God is in control (and we don’t have to be). Larson encourages, “Life with God is life, indeed. Ask for some God-given dreams. Make your plans. Stay flexible. Be interruptible. Jesus will lead you on a fruitful faith-adventure of a lifetime.”

JA – “I INVITE YOU TO GAZE UPON My beauty and to seek Me more and more…. gazing upon My beauty requires focusing on My unseen Presence through prayer and meditating on My Word…. Place reminders of My Presence in your home, car, and office. Whisper My Name to remind you of My nearness. Sing praises to me. Read or recite Scripture passages out loud. Find others who desire to know Me more fully, and share this glorious quest with them.” See Psalm 27:4 and Jeremiah 29:13.

Streams – Mark 4:35 – “Let us go over to the other side.” This story certainly exemplifies how God uses interruptions to redirect and redesign us. Cowman uses selected sources to flesh out her message, “Even though we follow Christ’s command, we should not expect to escape the storm. In this passage of Scripture, the disciples were obeying His command, yet they encountered the fiercest of storms….they cried out for Christ’s assistance. Christ may delay coming to us during our times of distress, but it is simply so our faith may be tested and strengthened. His purpose is also that our prayers will be more powerful, our desire for deliverance will be greater, and when deliverance finally comes we will appreciate it more fully.” Through Daniel Crawford, we are reminded to pay close attention to God’s messages, “Christ said, ‘Let us go over to the other side’ – not – ‘to the middle of the lake to be drowned.’”

Power – Proverbs 18:21 The Message – “Words kill, words give life; their either poison or fruit – you choose.” Joyce expands on the verse, “Our thoughts affect our words, and our words affect our lives – words have power, and they directly affect our emotions…. In Proverbs 21:23 we are told to guard our mouths and tongues to keep ourselves from trouble…. The message cannot be any clearer: If you speak positive and good things, you minister life to yourself…. If you speak negative words, you minister death and misery to yourself…. You have the choice between life and death, being positive or negative – so choose wisely!”

Utmost – Psalm 25:14 – “The secret [‘friendship,’ RV] of the Lord is with them that fear Him.”  Chambers asks, “Have we ever let God tell us any of His joys, or are we telling God our secrets so continually that we leave no room for Him to talk to us? At the beginning of our Christian life we are full of requests to God, then we find that God wants to get us into relationship with Himself, to get us in touch with His purposes…. If we are saved and sanctified God guides  us by our ordinary choices, and if we are going to choose what He does not want, He will check, and we must heed. Whenever there is doubt, stop at once. Never reason it out…. He guides our common sense.”

JC – “I want to be Central in your entire being. When your focus is firmly on Me, My Peace displaces fears and worries…. Turn your whole being to trusting and loving Me.”

JL – “God of grace, I come to You for understanding since You know me far better than I know myself…. As You fill me with Your Love, I long to become a reservoir of love that overflows into the lives of other people. In Your lovely Name, Jesus, Amen.”
