Prevail #147 – Psalm 139:14 – “Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous – how well I know it.” Larson encourages and empowers us, “You were God’s beautiful, amazing idea…. He wired you with passions, convictions, and gifts to reflect His heart to a world in need. You’ve got some good work to do, battles to fight…. You have some gifts to steward, moments to enjoy, and wisdom to acquire…. You may also have genetic predispositions handed down from your family line…. But do not allow family sins, weaknesses, or tendencies to take precedence over God’s promises! …The very power that raised Christ from the grave is alive and active in you…. You couldn’t be more loved, empowered, or secure if you tried. Scripture says it: You are fearfully, beautifully, and wonderfully made.”

Power – 1 Thessalonians 5:18 – “Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of the will].”  Joyce reminds us that, “The Bible encourages us to always be thankful. That’s easy when God answers prayers and delivers us from problems, but it isn’t always easy when things go wrong. So how can we remain thankful in the midst of suffering? We can remember other times when God has delivered us from problems [keeping a prayer journal can help us with our memory]…. We can also rejoice over things that are not wrong in our lives…. We can be thankful to God in obedience to Him. We don’t have to wait to feel thankful in order to give thanks…. you will be happier while you wait.”

JC – “Seek My Face at the beginning of your day…. Most people put on clothes soon after arising from bed. Similarly, the sooner you ‘put Me on’ by communicating with Me, the better prepared you are for whatever comes your way…. Ask the Holy Spirit to control your thinking…. This discipline brings Joy and Peace to you and those around you.”

Streams – Matthew 14:18 – “Bring them here to me.”  Cowman leads with this question from A. B. Simpson, “Do you find yourself at this very moment surrounded with needs, and nearly overwhelmed with difficulties, trials, and emergencies? Each of these is God’s way of providing vessels for the Holy Spirit to fill. If you correctly understand their meaning, you will see them as opportunities for receiving new blessings and deliverance you can receive in no other way. The Lord is saying to you, ‘Bring them here to me’…. Allow God time to work and He surely will.”

Utmost – Luke 24:49 – “Tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.” Chambers picks up on the idea of waiting on God’s timing, “The disciples had to tarry until the day of Pentecost not for their own preparation only; they had to wait until the Lord was glorified historically…. The parenthesis in John 7:39 (‘For the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified’) does not apply to us; the Holy Ghost has been given, the Lord is glorified; the waiting depends not on God’s providence, but on our fitness…. It is not the baptism of the Holy Ghost which changes men, but the power of the ascended Christ coming into men’s lives by the Holy Ghost that changes them…. Begin to know Him now, and finish never.”

JA – “Remember that you are part of My kingdom of everlasting Life and Light. The darker your planet becomes, the more you need to cling to the hope you have in Me. Despite the way things look, I am in control, and I’m accomplishing My purposes in ways you cannot understand…. As I told My disciples, so I say to you now: Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. [John 16:33] Because you belong to My kingdom, in Me you may have Peace.”

JL – “My ever-near God, …The Bible promises that You are near to all who call on You. As I whisper Your Name in tender trust, help me cast my doubts to the wind! I need to spend some time telling You about my troubles and seeking Your guidance. Then I’ll change the subject to You – praising You for Your greatness and majesty, Your Power and Glory. I’ll thank You for the many good things You have done and are doing in my life…. You satisfy the hunger of my heart with the Joy and Peace of Your Presence, assuring me: ‘I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go.’ In Your generous Name, Jesus, Amen.”
