May 21, 2026 – Seek

Streams – Psalm 77:6 – “I remembered my songs in the night.” Cowman shares some enlightening thoughts from Malcolm J. McLeod who then concludes with, “And it is also a real and unquestionable fact of human life and culture that a person’s character is strengthened most during the darkest days.”

JA – “TREASURE ME ABOVE ALL ELSE.” This will infuse Joy into your heart and mind. It will also glorify Me! …When you prize Me above all else, other things lose their grip on you. One way to discern what you hold dearest is to examine your thoughts when your mind is at rest…. you can teach yourself to think about Me more consistently…. memorize Scripture…. enlist My Spirit to help you….”  See John 14:26.

Utmost – Matthew 6:33 – “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”  Chambers points out that most of us consider this verse to be “…the most revolutionary statement human ears ever listened to…. We argue in exactly the opposite way, even the most spiritually-minded of us – ‘But I must live; I must make so much money; I must be clothes; I must be fed.’  …Jesus reverses the order: Get rightly related to God first, maintain that as the great care of your life, and never put the concern of your care on other things…. Jesus is saying that the great care of the life is to put the relationship to God first, and everything else second. It is one of the severest disciplines of the Christian life to allow the Holy Spirit to bring us into harmony with the teaching of Jesus in these verses.”

JC – “I the Creator of the universe, am with you and for you. What more could you need? When you feel some lack, it is because you are not connecting with Me at a deep level. I offer abundant Life; your part is to trust Me, refusing to worry about anything…. Determined to make things go your way, you forget that I am in charge of your life…. Stop your striving, and watch to see what I will do. I am the Lord!”

Power – Psalm 7:9 NKJV – “Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish the just; for the righteous God tests the hearts and minds.”  Joyce offers this example and explanation, “We test-drive a new car we are considering buying or other products we find in the store…. In the same way, God tries our thinking (see Revelation 2:23) to see if there are any defects in our minds so He can make us into a quality ‘product’ – a person of character He can trust. The tests come as we face pressure, and if we stand firm in the truth we say we believe, then we pass the test; if we don’t, we get to take the test over again. God will never give up on us.”

JL – “My steadfast Savior,  Protect me from the trap of looking at myself through other people’s eyes…. Seeking to please people dampens my desire to please You, my Creator…. Lord, help me to view both myself and others from Your perspective…. As I rest in Your loving gaze, you fill me with deep Peace…. In Your great Name, Jesus, Amen.”
