Oct 26, 2025 – My Friend
This will be a quick entry today because, after we go to living room church (which means watch or listen to it online), I’ll be getting ready to leave for a little overnight trip with a friend who will be moving out of town soon. I was quite sad when I heard about this the other day, but it’s so interesting (and truly amazing really) how God prepares ahead for things that we have no clue about and how He speaks to us in so many different ways. I’m very comforted knowing that my life is in His hands. I suppose I need to move from being surprised to being expectant at how He works all things out for good. (See Romans 8:28.) The day she told me about the move, I happened to be listening to the chapter about friendships in The Let Them Theory book by Mel Robbins. God’s comfort, partly through her perspectives, helped me to be more happy for her than I was sad for me so that I am able hopefully to be a help rather than a hindrance to her as she prepares for this next season of her life.
Power – “God’s love for us is unconditional, and it’s important for us to understand that He wants us to do good works because of our love for Him and our faith in Jesus – not because we feel we have to earn His love. It blesses God when we live by faith, working through His love in our hearts (see Galations 5:6).
JA – “Learn to be joyful when things don’t go as you would like…. My purpose for you is not to grant your every wish or to make your life easy. My desire is that you learn to trust Me in all circumstances.”
Utmost – “A missionary is one sent by Jesus Christ as He was sent by God. The great dominant note is not the needs of men, but the command of Jesus…. The ideal is to be true to Him, to carry out His enterprises…. We forget that the one great reason underneath all missionary enterprise is not first the elevation of the people, nor the education of the people, nor their needs; but first and foremost the command of Jesus Christ – ‘Go ye therefore, and teach all nations.’…We give credit to human wisdom when we should give credit to the Divine guidance of God through childlike people who were foolish enough to trust God’s wisdom and the supernatural equipment of God.”
JC – “Come to Me when you are hurting, and I will soothe your pain. Come to Me when you are joyful, and I will share your joy, multiplying it many times over. I am all you need, just when you need it. Your deepest desires find fulfillment in Me alone.” My best and most trusted Friend.
(Note: I noticed that when I saved this blog, after an edit, that the time was 8:28…..I’ve said it many times, and I’ll likely say it many more times, that Romans 8:28 is my favorite verse. Numbers are very meaningful. I did a study of numerology for a high school paper and went to the nearby CBN University, later named Regent University, for research. I think it’s neat that a Christian university started in the city where I grew up and now a Bible college has started in the city where I’ve spent my adult life….Highlands College.)
