Oct 24, 2025 – With and Without
NO SLING! At my follow up appointment yesterday, my doctor told me I could stop wearing the sling, except when I’m in crowds, and I think I’ll consider the grocery store a crowded place for a while because, when I stopped there after my appointment, I felt so vulnerable without my sling. I felt like I had to keep telling people that I just got out of my sling to explain why I was pulling rather than pushing my buggy one-handed and not reaching for things and getting help to the car with my one bag of groceries (it was heavy and I’m trying to not strain my “good” shoulder). The dr said I should start flushing the toilet and brushing my hair but still don’t lift anything, which I really can’t do because my arm is so weak. I think I’ll go back to dictating the blog for now because just that little bit of typing gave me pain in my shoulder. It’s not a good stretch; it’s a “feels like it’s gonna pop” stretch. Time. It’s just going to take time. Slow down and do the exercises. I’m told, by those who have gone before me, that I will see and feel the difference incrementally and then suddenly feel almost normal again.
Prevail #298 – “Jesus didn’t consider equality with God something to leverage for his benefit. [See Philippians 2:6] In fact, He leveraged it for ours, and in a way that cost Him everything. You have power for a purpose. Wield your influence for the sake of others.” Larson’s prayer: “ Lord, Forgive me for trying to prove I’m somebody, when You’ve already proven it for me. Live valiantly through me, Amen”
JA – “Lasting joy can be found only in me. There are many sources of happiness in this world, and sometimes they spill over into Joy – especially when you share your pleasures with Me. I shower blessings into your life and I rejoice when you respond to them with a glad thankful heart…. Don’t let circumstances or feelings weigh you down…. The Light of My Presence is shining on you illuminating the path before you.”
Power – Deuteronomy 31:8 – “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you period do not be afraid do not be discouraged.” Joyce writes, “Every day with God is not going to be a perfect day with no problems. But your worst day with Jesus, will still be better than your best day without Him.”
