Nov 2, 2025 – Fully Engaged
I don’t have anything in particular on my mind right now to share so I’ll just jump right into the devotions. I will mention that the setting sun is highlighting the fall colors on the mountain across the valley from my mountain which is in shadows right now. The screen saver that keeps coming up on my computer is of a beautiful setting in Vermont with colorful leaves all over a valley and a mountain. Fall is my favorite season of year.
JA – “When anxiety is great within you, turn to Me for consolation…. Your natural tendency when you’re feeling anxious is to focus on yourself or your problems. The more you do this, the more you forget about Me and all the help I can supply. This worldly focus only increases your anxiety!… Whisper My name, and invite Me into your difficulties.”
Utmost – “Our Lord never insists upon obedience; He tells us very emphatically what we ought to do, but He never takes means to make us do it. We have to obey Him out of oneness of spirit…. If I hesitate, it is because I love someone else in competition with Him, viz., myself…. If I obey Jesus Christ in the haphazard circumstances, they become pin holes through which I see the face of God, and when I stand face to face with God I shall discover that through my obedience thousands were blessed.”
Prevail #306 – 1 Thessalonians 2:19 – “After all, what gives us hope and joy, and what will be our proud reward and crown as we stand before our Lord Jesus when He returns? It is you!” Larson writes, “Note which efforts are fruitless, a distraction, or a drain. Live fully engaged, for the kingdom of God.”
Max – Acts 20:20 MSG – “I didn’t skimp or trim in any way. Every truth and encouragement that could have made a difference to you, you got.” Lucado talks about how Dale Carnegie’s book How to Win Friends and Influence People came about and writes, “What is the message of the book? Arguably it can be reduced to one phrase: ‘Encourage one another.’ “
JC – “Your weakness does not repel me. Do not condemn yourself for your constant need of help. Instead, come to me with your gaping neediness; let the light of my love fill you. A yielded heart does not whine or rebel when the going gets rough. It musters the courage to thank Me even during hard times.”
Power – John 13:34 – “I give you a new commandment: that you should love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too should love one another.” Joyce writes, “Some people think of love as a sensation – a wonderful feeling of excitement or gushy emotions that make us feel warm and cozy all over…. Real love is a decision concerning the way we behave in our relationships with other people. Real love meets needs even when sacrifice is required in order to do so…. Clearly, love moves us to take action – not just theorize or talk.”
Streams – “Prayer is the link that connects us with God. It is the bridge that spans every gulf and carries us safely over every chasm of danger or need…. Do we truly know the power of our supernatural weapon of prayer? Do we dare to use it with the authority of a faith that not only asks but also commands? God baptizes us with holy boldness and divine confidence, for He is looking not for great people but for people who will dare to prove the greatness of their God!…A.B Simpson…. In your prayers, above everything else, beware of limiting God, not only through unbelief but also by thinking you know exactly what He can do. Learn to expect the unexpected beyond all that you ask or think.”
