Jan 1, 2026 – Little Pleasures
One way to put a positive spin on not getting to sleep through the night, is to look for special gifts from God – this huge moon over the valley was one for me early this first day of the year.
JC – “Come to Me with a teachable spirit, eager to be changed. A close walk with Me is a life of continual newness. Do not cling to old ways as you step into a new year. Instead, seek My face with an open mind, knowing that your journey with Me involves being transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Prevail Day 1 – Larson writes, “We have to let go of the old to lay hold of the new. We have to leave what’s comfortable if we want to experience God as our provider, our defender, and our way-maker…. God’s promise over us far outweighs our need to control every twist and turn. We’re on a need-to-know basis, and when we need to know, God will let us know! …Before you take another step, remember His faithfulness. Remember His goodness. It’ll strengthen you for the road ahead.”
Power – Joyce writes, “When you have a negative circumstance, you have a negative thought. Then you say a negative thing about the circumstance, and then your mood begins to sink…. But you can break this cycle in your life. Did you know that? Luke 10:19 says we have power to ‘tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy.’ (KJV)… Keep your mind, mouth, moods, and attitudes positive, and watch God work miracles on your behalf.”
JA – “DO NOT DWELL ON THE PAST. See, I am doing a new thing! As you begin a fresh year, rejoice that I am continually working newness into your life. Don’t let recent disappointments and failures define you or dampen your expectations. This is the time to make a fresh start! …Search for signs of My Loving Presence as you journey along the path of Life. Look for the little pleasures I have strewn alongside your pathway [like a huge morning moon] – sometimes in surprising places – and thank Me for each one. Your thankfulness will keep you close to Me and help you find Joy in your journey.”
Streams – Cowman writes, “Today we stand at the threshold of the unknown. Before us lies a new year, and we are going forward to take possession of it…. The Lord is to be our Source of supply…. We cannot see what loss, sorrow, and trials are accomplishing. We need only to trust. The Father comes near to take our hand and lead us on our way today. It will be a good and blessed New Year!” (See Deuteronomy 11:11-12)
