Apr 8, 2026 – Golden Rule

Utmost – Chambers writes, “When I am born again from above (RV mg), I receive from the risen Lord His very life….We are never in the relationship to God that the Son of God is in; but we are brought by the Son into the relationship of sonship. When Our Lord rose from the dead, He rose to an absolutely new life, to a life He did not live before He was incarnate. He rose to a life that had never been before; and His resurrections means for us that we are raised to His risen life, not to our old life…. Thank God it is gloriously and majestically true that the Holy Ghost can work in us the very nature of Jesus if we will obey Him.”
Power – Luke 6:31 NASB – “Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.” I remember someone once telling me that the “Golden Rule” was not from the Bible. Indeed we do have God’s instructions to live in a new way towards others when we are risen into a new life in Christ. It seems we often have to be reminded of that. Joyce offers, “Think about what you want and start to give it away. For example, if you want to be encouraged, then be encouraging! Be careful of your thoughts about people…. look for and magnify good in every person, and you’ll treat people accordingly…. Compliments actually help us perform better.”
JC – Interestingly, this devotion seems to direct our Golden Rule thinking toward God as well as to others. “I am with you and for you, your constant Companion and Provider. The question is whether you are with Me and or Me. Though I never leave you, you can essentially ‘leave’ Me by ignoring me: thinking or acting as if I am not with you…. When you feel far from Me, whisper My Name…. opens your heart to My Presence.”
Prevail #97 – (Going back a day because I jumped ahead on April 7) – I really appreciate Larson’s message about King Amaziah’s dilemma from 2 Chronicles 25:9 when he learned from “a man of God” that “the Lord was no longer with Israel” because “They’d abandoned Him.” He was worried about the money he had already spent assembling his army, so “The prophet assured him that God could restore him and then some!” Larson encourages, “Don’t be stubborn about your plans if it’s becoming clear that God is not in them. Never mind what you’ve spent. Honoring God matters most of all. If you honor Him, He’ll restore you. And then some!”
She prays, “Lord Jesus, Forgive me for my tendency to control outcomes and assume You’re in int. I will slow down my pace today. I’ll seek Your face today. Show me the way that I should go. Amen.”
